Office History

Our Office was founded around the year 1880 by Epameinondas Melissinos and has been operating ever since. It is the second oldest law office in the prefecture of Argolida as the Karapavlos law office was founded earlier, possibly just after the Greek War of Independence.

The office founder, Epameinondas Melissinos, moved to Nafplio early in his life and lived here for the bigger part of the 19th century. He was a devoted lawyer and had also been elected numerous times at the city council. After his retirement, his nephew Gerassimos Melissinos (1867 – 1943) got in charge of the office. Gerassimos was considered as one of the most prestigious nafpliot lawyers of his time and had also served as a judge. Like his uncle before him, he was interested in local politics and was eventually elected as a member of the Greek Parliament with the party of Eleftherios Venizelos. After his death, the office management passed to Gerassimos’s son Takis Melissinos (1910-1994) who was the most emblematic figure in the history of the office. Takis exercised his profession for almost sixty years and was honored by his colleagues, who elected him president of the Nafplio Bar Association. He was also involved in local politics and was elected many times at the city council, which he served at first as a member and then as its president. Today, the office is administered by Takis’s son, Gerassimos Melissinos.

During its long existence many good colleagues worked with us and offered their services either as cooperating lawyers or as practicing lawyers. Some of them are the following:
